Central and Eastern European Game Studies is a gathering of game scholars from a number of countries in the region and this diversity centrally informs its values and principles. Acknowledging the uniqueness of each individual, we seek to cultivate an academic environment that encourages freedom of expression. At the same time, all CEEGS scholars and conference attendees who aspire to be part of our community must accept the responsibility to demonstrate civility and respect for the others. Recognizing that the proper balance between freedom of expression and respect for others is sometimes difficult to negotiate or even recognize, we are committed to challenging ourselves and each other in an atmosphere of mutual concern, goodwill, and respect. Expressions or actions that undermine or encroach upon any individual’s or any group’s race, ethnicity, national citizenship, gender, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, age, or disability are contrary to CEEGS’ mission, have no place in our community, and will not be tolerated. Neither shall we tolerate discrimination of particular academic disciplines or members thereof.
